Bishop's report July 2008Thank you for your prayers and support over the past few months. This has been an extremely busy time in the life of the Diocese of Egypt and for the Anglican Communion as a whole. I am reminded in the Old Testament that the people would constantly forget the Lord their God and turn to the gods of their neighbors. They wanted to be like the other nations. In response to their falling away, the prophets continually called the people to repent and to return to Lord their God. We are facing the same situation today. Our Commitment: EFAC StatementBishop Mouneer attended the Pre Lambeth Conference of Evanglical Fellowship of the Anglican Communion (EFAC). He reports about very fruitful discussions and fellowship. Many were encouraged by the news of our Alexandria School of Theology. 'It was specially great to meet my dear friends Bishop Maurice Sinclaire and Rev Canon George Kovoor the principal of Trinity College Bristol', according to Bishop Mouneer. The attached statement was created to define our common Christian commitment. Bishop Mouneer's position on Lambeth, Press Release, 5 July 2008
Paper by Bishop Andrew Proud on the Crisis Today: Split identities, divided loyaltiesThis paper is written in an attempt to understand the forces coalescing around the issue of human sexuality as many of the bishops of the Anglican Communion prepare for the 2008 Lambeth Conference. I shall attempt to tease out and then offer some reflections on the main issues and influences that I believe come to bear upon the issue of homosexuality within the Anglican Communion. 1. Introduction. Split Identities, divided loyalties The Rt Rev Andrew Proud, Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) Uganda Christian University, Graduation Day Address, 6 June 2008(Public Address, 6 June 2008) Graduation Day Address for Uganda Christian University By the Most Rev. Mouneer H. Anis, 6 June 2008 It is a joy and privilege to come to your great country of Uganda. Archbishop Henry Orombi reminds me every time I see him that Uganda sends the water of the Nile to Egypt. It is also a great historical moment to come here to witness the graduation of the first Ethiopian Anglican Minister from U.C.U. It is truly historical for the Church in Uganda to equip a minister for the Church in Egypt with North Africa and the Horn of Africa. The Rev. Bill Musk comes to Tunis and becomes Area BishopGreat news for us here in the Arab World! The Rev. Canon Dr. Bill Musk has been appointed Area Bishop for North Africa as well as Rector of St. George’s, Tunis. With the growth of the Church in this area and increasing demands for discipleship, community service and interfaith dialogue, we felt that the time has come to create this new Episcopal Area. Bill Musk, 59 years, and his wife Hilary have lived in this region for over a decade and served here in All Saints' Cathedral in Cairo from 1981 to 1986. |

Pentecost 2010My Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, at Pentecost, the Church received the Holy Spirit. This was in fulfilment of Jesus' promise to his disciples "wait until you receive power from on high" Acts 1:8. With receiving the Holy Spirit the disciples received a power to share the Good News within Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria and to the rest of the world. The Holy Spirit still empowers the church today to advance Christ's mission. Jesus Christ and his disciples showed us how we can share the Good News with the people around us. |
