Education CentresThe Diocese of Egypt has the following educational programs: Alpha is an opportunity for anyone to explore the Christian faith in a relaxed setting over ten thought-provoking weekly sessions, with a day or weekend away. The Episcopal Training Centre (ETC) is a vibrant and friendly place to study English and Arabic in Cairo. The have classes in multiple locations for the diverse needs of students of all levels. The Episcopal School in Menouf (located in the Delta) was opened in 1930 with a vision to provide high quality education to build productive and competent generations for the community. Today this primary school serves Muslims and Christians and is still known for its outstanding education. Furthermore, our Community Development Centres provide tutoring classes and donations for book fees and school uniforms to help children succeed in school. The Alexandria School of Theology was formed in 2005 to help prepare servants for Christ to serve in Egypt and surrounding countries. Holding its first graduation in June 2009, AST is convinced that only the Gospel of Jesus Christ can bring real and lasting hope to people in our region. Children with Special Needs in Sadat City is a centre where children with special needs are taught the necessary tools to survive. Often in Egypt children with special needs are left alone at home, because parents and family members are embarassed by them. Our centre teaches these children how to become part of the family, and teaches the family how to love all people. The Deaf Unit in Old Cairo is a bilingual NGO serving deaf children, 55 of whom live at the school whilst another 15 children attend classes from the surrounding areas. Students enter the program when they are 5-6 years old. Instruction is free.

The Most Rev. Dr. Mouneer Hanna Anis
Pentecost 2010My Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, at Pentecost, the Church received the Holy Spirit. This was in fulfilment of Jesus' promise to his disciples "wait until you receive power from on high" Acts 1:8. With receiving the Holy Spirit the disciples received a power to share the Good News within Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria and to the rest of the world. The Holy Spirit still empowers the church today to advance Christ's mission. Jesus Christ and his disciples showed us how we can share the Good News with the people around us. |
