Dreams as a Diocese

Our Dreams as a Diocese

Recommended by Synod 2004

Churches and Other Places of Ministry:

  1. To start new places of ministry (e.g. new congregations) wherever we can in the Diocese to overcome the difficulties of starting new churches.
  2. To encourage every church to plant another church nearby.

Evangelism:

  1. To overcome the barrier of fear, and to evangelise all people with one heart and one mind, ignited by the fire of Holy Spirit.
  2. To encourage every church to be a welcoming church, alive and effective, representing the message of Christ's love and forgiveness to those who come into our churches.
  3. To energise the work of the Mission and Evangelism Task Force, and to train evangelists, who are called by God, to work within and outside of the Diocese.

Training:

  1. To establish the Alexandria School of Theology to qualify leaders for the next generation and to undertake quality training in the power of the Holy Spirit.
  2. To prepare a training curriculum and to train leaders in the different fields to work effectively in building the future church, and to build up the leadership resource in the churches.

Worship as One Body:

  1. To develop and expand our ways of worship to make worship suitable for all ages, backgrounds and cultures in order that all who come will be encouraged to participate.
  2. To have a praise team for the Diocese.
  3. To encourage prayer through regular prayer meetings in all churches, in order to be a prayerful and effective Diocese.
  4. To achieve the unity of the One Body amongst and between all members in spite of the differences between languages and cultures.

Development of Activities and Meetings in Local Churches:

  1. To encourage cooperation between leaders of different meetings for different age groups (e.g. children, youth) and types (e.g. families, Alpha) to exchange experiences and for mutual cooperation for the success of the ministry.
  2. If they are not already doing so, to encourage local churches to start different types of meetings.

Institutions:

  1. To equip all the workers in the institutions of the Diocese to be evangelists in their places of work in order to be able to carry the Gospel to all groups within the society by work and action through their distinct social services.
  2. To establish new social centers in most of the new cities within Egypt.
  3. To ordain a priest for the ministry to the deaf.

General:

  1. To work on reclaiming all church institutions which were previously lost.
  2. To build a conference centre for the Diocese and to use it for training and youth camps.
  3. To give special attention to communication and dialogue with other faiths.
